Have nothing more to do with them

In Church, Scripture on May 1, 2016 at 10:22 am

Church leaders need to take notice here.

“As for a person who stirs up division, after warning him once and then twice, have nothing more to do with him” Titus 3:10

Too many churches just let it be. They sacrifice church health, discipleship, and the safety of the rest of the flock for these wolves in sheep’s clothing.

Church leaders, learn to discipline as well as feed!

Benchwarmers to First Stringers

In Church on November 5, 2010 at 10:59 am

My current project.  This is merely a title for a massive work here at FBCH.

Benchwarmers to First Stringers
An organized approach to transforming spectators into ministers.

Keeping in mind that I am still in the brainstorm phase of this project and the title may not make the cut.

Church Unity

In Church on February 6, 2010 at 5:09 am

I appeal to you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment.
1 Corinthians 1:10

The church needs to agree both to purpose and process.

The Missionary

In Church, Faith on October 25, 2009 at 6:34 am

The missionary seeks to understand the people he is reaching and relate to them in their cultural context.

Theology & Mission

In Church, Faith on October 25, 2009 at 6:18 am

If theology does not lead to mission, it is an incomplete theology.

Stereotype of Form

In Church on September 12, 2009 at 5:50 am

Preaching styles.  While in general we like variety in our literature and oratory, are there certain occasions when a stereotype of form is called for?

A police officer describing an arrest in court vs. the same officer discussing the same event among his friends.

A pastor preaching a sermon vs. the same preacher talking about the same passage of scripture among friends.

The Shepherd

In Church on September 2, 2009 at 11:30 am

A good shepherd will no only care for the sheep, but rebuke a goat and shoot a wolf.  The shepherd must be willing to turn the staff around and smack the wolves that rear up.

A Pillar of the Community

In Church on September 2, 2009 at 7:26 am

…the church of the living God, a pillar and buttress of truth.
1 Timothy 3:15 (ESV)

The Church, not the government, universities, media or public schools, is the pillar and support of truth.

Christians Unite!

Unity is not uniformity.
